Just do it
I am not a fan of “New Year’s resolutions” and that sort of thing. Most of the time they fail because of changed priorities, postponing till it’s too late, laziness and tons of other different reasons. So this time I decided to set one New Year’s resolution – “Just do it”. Instead of planning and thinking and considering – just do the damn thing already. And one of those things was own website, which I was thinking about for quite some time. I decided to follow my resolution literally, so after having returned home on 1st of January from New Year’s party and taking a quick nap - I set to work on it. I spent most of 1st of January and the entire week which followed working on my website, with only couple of interruptions for relatives/friends visits. And it was a wonderful week.

I guess everyone loves the freedom which working on own website gives contrary to client work. You can do anything you want and try new things, learning a lot along the way. I was heavily inspired by Natalie Downe’s planning process (as you can see on the left) and by brilliant book “Hardboiled Web Design” by Andy Clarke. While fight with default Drupal markup was tough, I tried to clean it as much as I could and bring html5 goodness to my custom theme. The hardest part of course was inevitable “oh! it's not good enough just yet! I will do a little more here and a little more there”. But being afraid that pursuit of perfection will take weeks and even months I just put it online how it is, let it be “work in progress”. Of course there are a lot of different things I would still like to do, and I will do them at the time. But for now it is already here and it is online. Finally I have a place where I can put all the various curious things I find online. And my rants of course! :) Hope notes and pieces of information in here will be of any use for someone else also. Welcome!
